What road speed was being simulated? I’d love to hear the watts saved at 15, 30, and 45kph. Also, if slightly hairy arms and legs represent a 13 watt opportunity, what about different jersey materials and fit (skin tight vs relaxed)? Surely my torso contributes far more to wind resistance, right?

If you are spending energy thinking about this sort of thing, that is wasted on energy that could be spent on actually improving your health and athleticism, which will yeild a much higher ROI

It was never about aerodynamics. its because pro riders get multiple deep tissue massages every day, especially when racing or at training camp. Easier to massage shaved legs. Why are people still talking about this? Duh Go watch pro sports. Male boxers, MMA fighters, NBA and NFL players shave their armpits bare. Go make a big deal about that. Roided up bobybuilders full of growth hormones shave their entire swollen unhealthy bodies. they are a more interesting target.

IMHO everyone hates the poor weather meaning it provides an opportunity to get an edge over your competitors. Accept that which you don’t control. I think that would of been Ben K’s attitude.

Watching the race was awesome. I’ve been home after foot surgery and haven’t been able to train but watching these pro series performances as so inspiring. Lionel is right about the bike; they all kept taking turns. Crazy to see them dropping hammers on the bike to ill effect. Super epic race. My favorite 70.3 I’ve seen yet.

I also believe that the shaved surfaces helps in heat dissipation. Also easier to apply sun screen in a more even, thinner application. I've been shaving since my racing days in the 1990s. I can tell the heat difference after only 2 weeks of growth.
